Disk backup file naming

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I am using True Image 2014. In the past, when I create a backup of the whole disk, the backup file will start with the backup profile name. For example, for a backup profile ‘T500 500GB’, the backup file will use a file name like this:

T500 500GB_full_b1_s1_v1.tib

But today when I try to create a new backup profile and then perform the backup, the backup file name becomes

ST1000LM014-2KT256_full_b1_s1_v1.tib

It seems True Image is using the name of the hard disk device to name the file.

Why? How to make sure the backup file use the backup profile name instead of the device name?

Thanks

Alan

In 2014 version, the name of the task and the name assigned to the tib files

can either be the same or differ.  User choice.

User can control all of the name except the ending part of the tib files.

Review my signature link 2A below.

All items in 2A can help but figures 5, 16 and 17 relate to your question.

Name assigned to the tib file occurs in figure 5.

Name assigned to task is assigned in figure 16 & 17.

Changing the name i n 16 & 17 does not change what you put into figure 5.

Hi, GroverH,

Thank you very much. I checked everything and finally find out the problem. In the past, I use an old version of True Image 2014, which works properly. While now I updated 2014 with the latest version, which has a bug in processing the backup file name.

I now restored to the old version and it worked again. The old version is 17.0.0.6614.

Should I report this bug to Acronis?

Thanks

Acronis is aware of this issue but they do not consider this to be a bug.

The problem you faced is how the program was designed. The date and time was left out intentionally.

Maybe Acronis will put it back in the futrure.  Many people have complained.

Yolu should report your preferance to Acronis via "User Feedback."
