Disk Clone function - will it work with SSDs that are using Full Disk Encryption (Intel SSD320 with AES128)?
I have been using ATIH for cloning my Intel SSDs to spin disks (for backup and DR) since the beginning. Always works perfectly.....including reverse cloning for Recovery.
Now I plan to upgrade from Intel 510 G2 SSD to 320 G3 SSD that will allow transparent firmware encryption on the fly. I understand how the key works when I am using the SSD in normal manner (ie bios support for decryption etc) - but have no idea what will happen when I use the (linux?) ATI cloning that loads from a re-boot (after I launch it in Win7) and completes the clone.
How will the SSD firmware get the password or key? Has anyone tried this?
If the Target Drive of the clone is a spin disk with no encyption tricky stuff - will it be de-crypted or not after the clone is done?
Looking forward to hearing from people who have tried this.
regards.....Irving
