Disk Restore still shows new files

Thread needs solution

I just did a full disk restore ( All partitions). I expected the system to not have files and changes to programes and settings of applications done since the backup.

I had a rude shock. First Acronis went into its own bootloader ( linux?) and was very fast in restoring from a 190 GB backup. Done in 10-15 minutes. That had me worried.

Found system state like recent documents same. Saw new files I had added and status of last few documents ( XLS, Word docs) as before I started restore. I was expecting to get older versions.

What gives? This is a very basic requirement? Does it not delete files added after the backup but present in the current disk when restoring?

Did you do a Data restore (Files and Folders) or an image restore. Your wording suggests it was in image of the entire HD but it sounds like you did an incremental data restore.

If it was an image restore TI should delete the partitions being restored which means nothing of the old file structure will be present. In fact, if you stop the restore after this has happened all you will end up with is unallocated space.

Your time is indeed suspect for a complete disk restore. It should have taken about 100 minutes on a relatively fast system if you are restoring a 190GB of archive (this time is just a very rough estimate but certainly much more than 15 minutes).
