Dissimilar hardware?
No doubt this has been asked before, but just wanted to make sure I understand the plus pack and dissimilar hardware before I buy.
I plan on backing up an image of the hard drive on my Win XP machine in case the hard drive dies. If it does, I would figure on buying a new hard drive, sticking it in the same machine, and restoring the image. As I understand it, if this is all I want to do, I wouldn't need the plus pack.
However, using the same scenario, if the hard drive died and I instead bought a new machine, or used a different machine that I have, and tried to restore the image to that machine's hard drive, this would be a "dissimilar hardware" scenario, and it wouldn't work unless I had the plus pack.
Do I have this right?

Ah, I do have OEM Win XP. That helps a lot, thanks so much for the help!

When you restore on a dissimilar material machine with the Plus Pack, you're welcomed with a Windows screen asking you to activate your Windows as a different material has been detected.
When you speak with a Microsoft representative, you'll be asked if you're OEM or not,as it happened to me.
I then replied that I just changed my Video card and my HD for one with a greater capacity, instead of explaining the process I went through...
