DNS-323 & True Image VSS

Is it possible to enable VSS on a network share located on the DNS-323? I was just editing an excel spreadsheet located on the NAS, and as I saved it the file got corrupted. I'm not sure if the NAS or my laptop corrupted the file, but I want to take precautions that this doesn't happen again.

Currently we have 2 machines saving all our files on the DNS-323 NAS. If there is a different best practice approach I should be using, let me know.
