Does not delete previous backup file.

Thread needs solution

New backup does not delete the previous backup file. Backups keep piling up and then drive becomes full.

Hi Bill,
This is often caused by an incorrect quota or retention rule setting. Basically this... when you set quotas or retention rules, the action is applied after the quota or rule is met. Example, you ask Acronis to perform full back ups and then delete older back ups after say the 4th back up. Acronis will then create 5 full back ups before deleting the previous 4 (rule or quota). This can be confusing since you expect the software to delete your images after the 4th back up, but in fact, it needs the 5th before it deletes the first 4 in order to maintain protection. Maybe I'm not understanding your question, but this is a very common reason why you may run out of disk space (even though) you've calculated what you believe you will need on a regular basis. Let us know if this doesn't help with your issue.
