Done with Acronis
This
Failed to read from sector of hard disk 1... failed to read the snapshot
begin in version 2011. I thought it would have been fixed by now. Funny thing is, when you try to update the 2011 version, for bandwidth reasons or whatever (other similar-sized downloads are much quicker), it takes a long time to finish the update. Then, when it's finished, there's an error and you have to close down Acronis.
So you are forced to make the 2012 update. No problem, would have done it eventually anyway.
So, after waiting for over an hour for the update to complete, and then ordering 2012 and having to uninstall 2011 and reboot, I let the full backup for 2012 do its magic, set it to shut down after completion, and go to sleep.
Come downstairs in the middle of the night, and it's stuck on the Failed to read from sector error.
Same as with the 2011 version. No improvement, at least regarding this error.
I have already, several times, checked the drive, and there is nothing wrong with it. The real problem, apparently, is that Acronis can't handle multi-terabyte external hard drives. Or maybe it just can't handle my specific brand.
Whatever. I'm done with Acronis, not wasting any more time with it. It was terrific and reliable for several years. But, as with Norton Ghost way back, its day has come and gone.

Acronis will write to my 2T internal backup disk. It takes a long time to backup 126Gig from the C: drive. Acronis9.0 took about 45 minutes. Must be how 9.0 prepared the drive.
Have you tried CHKDSK? (Another overnight project).
Edit. Guess I hit the SEND button twice
