[DUPLICATE] Latest update broke my 2012 installation

Thread needs solution

TIH2012 has been working fine for a couple of months, got a notification to update to the new build 7119 (i was running the most recent build before this one).

Download and run the update and it fails. Can't get it to work at all, just gives an error near the end of the install and rolls back.

Check support, find out that if I want any help with their broken update they expect me to pay them for the privilege - great start, nearly decide to go purchase another product because of that, but decide to try and fix it.

Download and run the Cleanup tool. Doesn't help. Run it again, and manually remove every relevant registry entry and file I can find. Still doesn't help, can't install.

The install get's 3/4 way done (till just after it installs the 2 acronis drives in device manager) then rolls back the install and fails with a very useful "file not found" error. The relevant part of the msi log seems to suggest it's something going on with the vss, though i've checked and there's only the ms provider registered and shadow copies seem to be working.

Any idea's would be appreciated.

The log:

One workaround to overcome your disappointment would be to restore one of your prior backups so you can make your system reappear just as it was prior to the botched installation.

Afterwards, you could do an uninstall and do a fresh install of the downloadable update from your personal registration account.

Perhaps residue from prior installations was the cause of your failure--but that's a guess.

A cleanup utility is also listed inside my signature below--should you have a need.

Better luck with your next install.

Hello Zac and Grover,

Thank you for your posts and your help Grover.

Zac, could you please post the full .msi log together with Windows system information file in this special sticky thread for installation issues.

Thank you.
