E000101F4: Failed to read data from the disk. Also showing bad clusters with chkdsk /r

Thread needs solution

I'm using Acronis True Image Home 11, (build 8,101) and my PC is Windows XP.

I have run MemTest86+-4.00 ISO & Western Digital Diagnostics all showing the memory & disks pass.

I have run the chkdsk /r & each time I run Acronis it shows 3-4 bad clusters which it says it corrected. The total number of bad clusters on this partition is approx 1524 at this point. The drive is 500GB & has 3 partitions.

I have compiled extensive data & pictures of the Acronis error for your review & Acronis Reports.

HOW DO I SEND to someone at Acronis without uploading for public view?

Just installed the SnapAPI update. The Snap program didn't seem to help either.

I run incremental backups daily to a separate internal 1TB drive & to external drives once per week. Most problems are on my "E" drive and mostly with Thunderbird Archive large files. Really not sure what to do here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please advise your thoughts as the computer manufacturer thinks it is an Acronis software issue and not hardware related.

Thanks!

Hello Art,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

To find the exact reason of the issue could you please obtain the below files and upload them to our FTP server. I have sent the appropriate credentials via PMs.

1) Please provide us with the log file of the failed operation:

- Start Acronis True Image;

- Select Tools -> Show log;

- Choose the log entry which contains errors;
- Click on the diskette icon, choose the location (folder) and save there;
- Send us the log.
2) Please download Acronis Report utility available here and run it, create a report and attach the file to your next post. Please compress the Acronis Report output file into an archive (e.g. with WinZip) and attach to your message by browsing for the archive.

This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

Please send me a PM after uploading the files. We are looking forward to hearing back from you.

Please let me know if the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question.

Thank you.

Dear Oleg,

Requested files have been uploaded.

Thanks for your support!

Dear Art,

Thank you for the provided information.

According to the files, your E: partition contains 381 bad sectors. Most probably, they cause the sofware malfunction. To localize the issue could you please create a new backup task specifying C: and F: partitions as a source for the backup operations (please exclude E: partition) anв see if the issue remains.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you.

Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.
