Error Loading OS

Thread needs solution

Acronis will not restore my hard drive. It will reformat the hard drive and then begin restoring the partitions. At the end of restoring drive C, it stops and says "error restoring OS." I have tried to restore using 2 different backup files locted on 2 different hard drives that have worked in the past.

Computer is a Dell E1505 using Windows XP. Acronis is 9.0 with the latest build.

The only difference between this restore attempt and the previous ones (which worked) is that the computer now has more RAM.

Several restore attempts were made with the same result.

The operating system will restore when using the restore disc for the operating system but will not restore using Acronis.

How much RAM was installed before? How much is in it now?

Have you tried using the F11 option on the Acronis Menu (when you boot the CD) and entering the parameter to reduce the amount of memory TI can use? For example, mem=2048M to limit to 2GB.

Have you tried using the Safe Mode version of TI?

It was on my son's computer. I had him check the hard drive, and that was the problem. Needed a new hard drive. Ram had been increased from 1 to 3 gig.
