Error messages not useful

Thread needs solution

Using 6514, but this issue hasn't changed. I often get error messages during online backup. They refer to files not accessible or access denied, but don't identify what file. They require manual intervention, but I may not be anywhere near the PC until hours later. Meanwhile the backup is hung. Later when reviewing the log I try to use the so-called "Smart Error Reporting" feature, to no avail. I have NEVER found an error that has a solution - it's always "We are sorry, There is no information about this error available now.". This gives a very bad impression (i.e. not professional).

If a file is not accessible, obviously the software knows what file it was trying to access, and obviously I need to know what file or I can't do anything about it - so tell me in the log. Requiring manual intervention rather than simply timing out and continuing with the next file is counter-productive in an unattended auto-scheduled backup program.

Bill,

Exactly what does the log say? Does Windows Event Manager report anything concerning True Image as well?

If you set TI up to send you emails on completion, does it do this and does the text offer any further information?

If it is failing because it can't find or read a file, it might be worth running chkdsk /r on your drive, just to cross that off the list of possible problems. Auto defragging may also cause a problem or behind the scenes in depth virus system scans.

No Windows event entries.

I have status messages coming to my email. Here are a couple of examples:

BWAWSC5 Task is waiting for user interaction.
Description: Stage Description
Information: Access to the file is denied.
Details:

BWAWSC5 Task is waiting for user interaction.
Description: Stage Description
Information: Error occurred while reading the file.
Details:

Notice there are NO details - I can't tell what file is causing the problem or what the error is. Regardless, it should time out and continue, not wait and then fail the backup. If I don't watch it back up, and respond to these pop-up messages, it always fails and I get no backup. If I do respond (and tell it to "ignore all") then eventually the backup will complete. But, since this is supposed to be an unattended middle-of-the-night backup, this is counterproductive.

Here is a screen shot of the log from a manual backup I'm running right now. Note that I'm really complaining about three things: 1) No useful information in the log, pop-up message of email notification; 2) manual intervention required in a scheduled "unattended" backup; and 3) no useful information in the "Smart Error" link.

Are you imaging a complete disk, partition or individual folders?

If a folder with subfolders or multiple folders, what type of content do they contain - images, email database etc?

Is TI installed for all users or just an as an individual user?

Individual folders. All sorts of files - I'm sure many of them if active will restrict access because they are open. Installed for all users - but there is only one user, this is a laptop.

None of this is relevant, though. I'm sure the restricted access message is legit, etc. What I'm complaining of is the fact that it doesn't tell me what file(s) it's reporting it can't access, the fact that it stops and fails if I don't respond (it's an unattended backup), and the fact that the error message has no explanation online.

You may try studying logs in C:\ProgramData\Acronis , detailed error may be there (but may as well be not)
