Error Occurred While Creating the File

Thread needs solution

I installed True Image 2013 recently on my local desktop running Vista Home Premium SP2. I am attempting to backup to a Netgear ReadyNAS to a share mapped to the local K: drive.

I setup a Disk and Partition Backup and successfully connected to my NAS share. The backup starts and runs for several minutes before a dialog box pops up stating "Error occurred while creating the file. To specify another location, click browse."

I've attempted to overcome this error several times by browsing to the location from this dialog box with no success.

The Event Log from this attempt is attached.

I have quickly searched Knowledge Base and the Forum and have not found anything similar. Any help for this new user is very appreciated.

When using ATI with a network drive, use a UNC path to to your NAS device for a backup destination, not a typical friendly "mapped" drive.
e.g.
\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

I believe it may also be possible to use a UNC path that includes server name rather than IP, such as
\\server1\My Backups\

I tried using the destination as a UNC path:
\\192.168.1.8\desktop\

Same error message as before after "Pending operation 151 started..."

I appreciate your prompt advice! Any other things for me to check?

Is \\192.168.1.8\desktop\ even a valid path? I would not think so.

I created a share on the NAS (192.168.1.8) named 'desktop'. Why is this not a valid path? It was recognized by TI and connected at the start of the backup routine...

So you were able to test the connection and connect before the start of the backup?

Did TI ask for a user and password at any stage when making the task for the NAS?

If you just edited the original task from poiting to a mapped drive to a share, I would suggest deleting the task and starting again, TI can be flaky if a task is edited.
