Exclude directories in RECOVERY (not backup!)

Thread needs solution

I have created a full backup of a hard drive that was in a QNAP. It includes a deep directory tree, and a lot of folders contain a directory named .@__thumb
I cannot recover directly to the new QNAP drive because it's not allowed to create those directories, which causes the recovery process to throw errors. I should recover everything to my local Windows drive, remove the directories and copy the files.

Can I exclude those directories when recovering? I cannot create a fresh backup and exclude the directories from the backup (drives are already empty).

Also I don't want to open all directories to tick off those hidden directories.

Maarten,

There is no way in TI to exclude files for recovery .

How did you make the original backup, as a complete disk or as a files and folder image?

If you choose the option to ignore security settings will the QNAP accept the complete backup?

Hi,

I made a full disk backup.

I tried disabling the option to ignore security settings, but then it keeps throwing errors "cannot restore blabla: no connection" or something like that.
Anyway, I hooked up one of the drives and I am now syncing all data to the new drive using AllwaySync :)
