External Backup Archive .tib

Thread needs solution

Hi,
Im trying to use the .tib archive I created using the Western Digital Acronis Free utility. My problem is this...when I begin the initial steps using Acronis to attempt a restore to my newly formatted hard drive , which has only a few necessary programes in control panel and Win XP, Acronis gives me a message stating that Acronis needs to reboot, thats fine, BUT, my image is on a password protected external drive and when a reboot has begun I need to enter the password again as Acronis cannot access the tib file to restore....this I think is cancelling the restore sequience and I dont know what steps to take to correctly restore my backup .tib image/file? So how does one correctly restore a .tib file on a password protected external drive? I tried copying the .tib to the desktop but that was a nonstarter.

A reference link will suffice or quick fix if possible?

Regards,

Berne

Hello Berne,

Let me assist you.

It seems that you've saved your backup to an encrypted drive. If so, you need to decrypt it before restoring the image since even the full version will not restore from the encrypted drive.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
