Extracting cd contents of .tib file

Thread needs solution

Helllo all,

New to this acronis stuff. Currently our company uses acronis recovery manager to image our machines with windows xp. On our backup discs there is a .tib file which is simply a backup image of the Windows XP install disc. I am trying to figure out how to simply change the .tib file back to the original windows disc. Please help!

If you have a backup of a disk image made with ATI then you need a version of ati the same or later to restore the image to another disk. This can be done by making a bootcd with ati and booting with it or by starting a recovery from within ati in windows (which will cause a reboot so you might as well start it with the bootcd).

alternatively, you can copy out individual or groups of files by mounting the tib -- to do this you need ati installed. You should be able to right click & Open or Mount a tib, select the files by highlighting and copying or drag and dropping. That's how it normally works, assuing the tib is a backup of hard disk.

If someone made a backup of CD or DVD install disk, then things get more complicated -- ATI isn't made to backup and restore opti disks, espeically ones with special boot straps like windows install disks, which aren't meant to be copied. You'd probalby need to resotre to hard disk directory and then use a opti buruner program to create a bootable opti disk using those files.
