F11 at boot time

Thread needs solution

Hi, well my thread I started seems to be gone. That was fast I started it yesterday.

Anyways as someone suggested I reinstalled acronis true image home and I got f11 at boot and went in and the mouse now worked and I did a full system restore. After I got back and a new system restored I open true image and it wanted me to update... so I did and I tried another reboot and pressed f11 and got in and again after the update I now have no mouse or keyboard again.

I use win 7 ultimate 64 and the version of my true image is update 2 build (6857)

Do you suggest I just don't update? But updates are important are they not? Anyways thats where I am now with no ability to restore again.

The last update fix many issues but introduced some new ones. Typically, any issue aside from hardware support can be worked around. So your need to update depends on whether the new update fixes some big issues in your eyes and specific case while not breaking anything :-)

At any rate, if you update, I recommend you export your backup settings, uninstall, download the installer file, reboot, reinstall and reimport your backup settings.
Hey, you can do a backup before the udpate, then update, and see if you need to go back later, or simply uninstall and resintall an older build.

If the F11 key is not working like you want it, try a reinstall. Hardware support in Linux-based pre-windows environment has a propensity for issues.

If you don't like the way F11 behaves, make sure you *try* a recovery CD/flash, because this will be anyway your only recourse if your disk simply dies.

Well I found a way with this laptop of mine and i have a feeling of restored confidence in having a backup. Anyways the problem was finally found in the two usb wireless stuff. I have a wireless Microsoft keyboard and a wireless Logitech mouse. I fixed it by removing the two usb chips from the laptop and then I regained use of the laptops keyboard and mouse pad.

Whew... finally fixed and can now backup and restore with confidence and that's a good feeling. I know, I know how stupid can I be but not being a computer geek I am proud that I figured it out. I think I got confused because my wife's computer has a wireless mouse and hers worked so I guess that threw me off the trail.....anyways thanks for all your help.

Who knows maybe another non-computer geek will find my experience useful.

Thanks.
