F11 Dactivate Hang
I have a problem with using F11 (see topic 16341) so I decided to deactivate it. I presses the deactivate button in the tools and it gets about 1/3 of the progress bar and hangs. I gave it over an hour and it is still sitting there. Trueimage.exe is using about 25% CPU but seems to be making no real progres.
Is there any way I can get rid of the F11 stuff. Note that I can not change f11.cfg so don't suggest that.

I could not deactivate F11 using the CD with an ISO I downloaded from Acronis. It does not have the "tools" needed to do the deactivate.
I then made a new CD and from the IT software that one hangs exactly the same way described in log # 16341 -- that is, I get to the Acronis screen and as noon as I move the mouse (or any keybord key) the PC hangs and I must power off to get out of it.
I assume if log number 16341 ever gets fixed I won't need to do the deactivate anyway.

If you download the SAFE version (under the addons tab in oyur account) install, and make yet another rescue CD, does selecting SAFE allow your mouse and or keyboard to work?

It is exactly the same with the "safe" mode CD.
I downloaded the safe mode and made a CD. I booted with that CD and as soon as I moved the mouse my PC hangs exaxtly as before.

I just want to make sure exactly where the hang occurs. The Safe Mode version shouldn't have the same problem as the Linux version -- they access the hardware in completely different ways.
The hang is happening on the Acronis menu (shown below), right?
If so, did you try doing as I suggested in your other thread and creating the CD with a time-out value to start the program so you don't have to move the mouse? It may just be that the menu program is having a problem.
What kind of mouse and keyboard are you using (PS/2, USB, BT, etc.)? Wired/wireless? What is the BIOS setting for USB Legacy Devices (if USB)?

I can answer some of your questions and need some help with others.
But first -- The safe mode CD worked! Something about your screen shot did not look the same so I put the CD in to get the screen and it worked. I saw a count-down-to-windows at the bottom and had not seen that before and I was able to use the mouse. However, I was not able to deactivate F11 since that tool/feature seem to be missing from the safe mode CD.
The thing missing from my screen was the system report line and it is safe mode.
I don't know how to put in an option to have a time out so could you tell me the format?
I will remake the Full CD with that in after you tell me what to put in.
My mouse is a wired USB and I have even tried the touch pad with the same results. My PC is a laptop and it doesn't have a PS/2 port. The keyboard is built in.
I did not go and look at the BIOS since I'm not sure what to look for regarding USB (other that boot order) (or even how to get to the BIOS with the new Dell PC).

Create the TI CD using Media Builder like you would normally. The time-out option is on the screen where you select what to include (Full Mode, Safe Mode, etc.). Select the version you want to start automatically and then check the checkbox at the bottom of the window. You can also change the number of seconds (it defaults to 10).
For the USB Legacy BIOS option, you would just need to browse the pages of the BIOS and look through the options. It may not make a difference if you change it, but it's worth trying. It should tell you the key to press in the manual (Dell usually has them online if you don't have one).

I made a CD with a 10 second time-to-start and, as long as I remember not to move the mouse for 10 seconds, it works. After 10 seconds a new screen appears and then some others and finally the standard screen is there. I have shortened the time to 2 seconds so I can use that not move the mouse for that time.
I tried to deactivate the F11 feature from the CD and the PC hangs after about 1/3 of the progress bar is filled (just like using the regular software.) I must power the PC off to clear the condition and reboot. It seems to have worked because I don't get the F11 massage when I boot after that.
I did not cnange the USB option since that indicates I would not be able to boot from an external usb CD drive and I need to do that from time to time.
