F11 Not Working

Thread needs solution

I have tried activating the F11 feature repeatedly, from within Windows, and while using the Acronis Boot CD. The progress indicator starts at 25%, never changes, and then a prompt tells me F11 is activated. But it's not...

Specifically, what instructions do I need to add to my boot.ini file, and what files do I need to add to the Secure Zone, to activate F11 support?

Thanks

Hello Anthony,

Let me assist you.

When Acronis Startup Recovery Manager is activated, it overwrites the master boot record (MBR) with its own boot code, so you don't need to add anything to boot.ini file or to Acronis Secure Zone.

So I may assume that something prevents Acronis from writing its code into MBR and that caused the issue.

First of all I recommend you to check the disks for errors:

- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)
- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r"
where DISK is the partition letter you need to check. Please note, that
checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

Additionally, I may suggest you to check if you have some antivirus protection in BIOS enabled, since this may also block Acronis software from writing its values to MBR.

If the issue still persists, please gather AcronisInfo and submit a support request with the collected information.

Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
