Fail to Read with Error

Thread needs solution

This is all unexpected. I did read the older articles on failed to read data from disk/ R/W failed error 0x59001

I did the usual fskdsk /f and that did not help. I need to replace the 250GB with a 1TB WD.

What I did when preparing the disk for a TIB after again receiving that failed message with error - I clicked on Ignore. The process is now unfolding. I hope I can restore the TIB to the new WD and replace the 250GB.

If so - assuming that this operation completed sufficiently - and I can boot into Windows 7 - with the new hard drive - do I need to any maintenance? to prove stability? I must assume the R/W error may carry over.
Let me know,
Thanks!

The process 'retry' and/or 'ignore' did not work. I again booted successfully into Windows. I will run chkdsk /f/r c: as 'administrator' to see if I can overcome this difficulty.

I would attempt a clone operation however in the past I end up with MBR issues - and resort to rescue disk to fix MBR.

Well Took 2 hours to run chkdsk /f again - and I get that error 0x590001.
This becomes a real problem - indeed I can use Windows - however having a image of the disk would be useful. I'll look for a third party check disk utility - defrag and do basics however I feel completely stuck.
If there is a method to do a full C drive partition backup let me know!
Thanks

The effort so far is with the Acronis boot disk. Perhaps I can to a image within Windows?
