Failed to open data stream
Occasionally I get the message "Failed to open data stream" and at the end of the report "Operation has completed with errors." The attached zip file contains a screenshot and the full report. However, a backup has been created and seems to contain files, though obviously I can't verify that it contains all the files it should.
Any suggestions as to what is causing the message and what I might do about it?

I agree with MVP Pat L, you should create a new backup task.
The errors you have reported show the backup file being created successfully, but there is an issue with Acronis trying to do a consolidation after the backup file is written. The log shows that the file is in use by another process (could even be Acronis not releasing control/unlocking the backup file after creating it).

I have completely lost track of the number of new backup tasks I have created over the last two years in response to backup failures of one sort or another. Mostly I have been trying to backup to a network drive and I came to the conclusion there was a problem with that so bought a USB connected external hard drive, which, initially, seemed more reliable.
The backup task is the whole of drive F: (on my hard disc in my PC) to G:/back-up (on the external hard drive). I manually trigger it every few days. I use DropBox for the most critical data, which I keep in F:/Dropbox.
I also have installed "Allway Sync". I have a job set up to synchronise the whole of my F: drive to G:/Copy of F. It's a one way sync so that I have copies of files I've deleted (from F:). I have automatic synchronisation switched on to run when the computer has been idle for 10 minutes.
Could there be a conflict?

Make sure you assign a fixed drive letter to your USB backup drive, late in the alphabet. This will make backup more reliable if you tend to plug or unplug devices to your computer.

The external HD is permanently plugged in.

I have the same problem with "failed to open Data Stream". I have tried everything to solve the problem, including the "repair" download. I have been using ATI since 2011 and know how to use it. This problem seems to be common with users.
