Failed to open data stream

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I installed Acronis True Image Home 2012 to perform backups for my customer some time ago. I have it send me email noitifications with the backup results. It seems there are always issues of some sort with the backups.

On my last visit to my client to fix "The disk is full". I changed Acronis from deleting old backups when the drive is over X GB full to deleting old backups when they are over 7 days old. I also deleted the contents of the backup drive.

Unfortunately the backups are now failing with logs as per attached file.

I have limited opportunities to access my client's system. My client and I have both reached the limits of our patience with Acronis as a backup solution at this point.

Is there a simple fix for this issue that I can instruct my customer how to perform over the phone? Or will I need to go on-site again with fingers crossed to attempt to resolve this?

Please advise!

This situation occurs after manually moving or deleting backup files using Windows Explorer. Acronis uses a database to track the backup files associated with a task. If they are deleted outside of the program, the database does not match the actual files on the disk.

The specific errors listed above are because of the consolidation rules trying to be applied to backup files that no longer exist. You will notice the backup file has actually been created successfully (Item #17), but the task fails during consolidation when it is looking for previous files that no longer exist (Items #27-30).

You must stop using this task, and create a new one. I would suggest that you create a new empty folder on the destination disk, and point the new task to it.

After a successful backup using the new task, delete the old task, and all remaining associated files.

To help with setting up the task to use cleanup / consolidation rules that work well, take a look at this guide provided by Grover (Thanks, Grover) http://forum.acronis.com/forum/28705
