Failed to open file '{0}' for reading. Error: {1}.
Backup apparently succeeds, but is flagged as failure. Error message is:Failed to open file '{0}' for reading. Error: {1}.
event code is 0x000B03E9. Knowledge base gives no help.
I have run chkdsk /f on both partitions I am backing up with no errors found, no improvement.
Suggestions ?

I am experiencing the same message and event code. It has happened twice this month (7/7 and 7/23) when performing the Documents backup. It is preceded by one or more "File I/O error" and "The system cannot find the file specified" information messages. On 7/23 the information messages occurred about 10 minutes before the error. They may or may not be connected to the actual problem. The Knowledge Base has no information, and the Forum has only this one other instance. I am attaching the Acronis System Report. I tried running AcronisInfo, but it crashes with the following error:
Running with default parameters.
Failed to obtain the list of groups.
Progress check 0 partition 100%

I have the exact same issue, please let us know when you guys have a update.

I, too, have this problem. This is a regularly scheduled differential task that has run without error for some time. Now I get this "Failed to open file '{0}' for reading. Error: {1}." with event code 0x000B03E9. Attached are my Acronis Info and Acronis Report files.
Note: This is a TrueCrypt 7.0a encrypted disk, but as said before, imaging has taken place successfully previously.
Thank you for your time.
EDIT: Removed support files, no longer needed.

Problem Resolved. In my situation, just after I posted the above message, I deleted the scheduled task in Acronis and deleted the old image file in the directory I was backing up to. I then recreated the job, ran it, and it ran successfully. It continues to today as well, running daily at 4am. Hope this helps someone!

I wonder if I am understanding you correctly. You pretty much started the backup over by deleting the task in Acronis and the image on the drive you were backing up to and ran a new backup? I'm using TI 2011 and have problems I never had with TI 2010. TI 2010 worked fine until Nonstop backup filled up the external HD I was using for the backup. I was never able to delete any of the earlier nonstop backups (the date menu never appeared) so I "upgraded" to 2011. This version seems to have way more problems, at least on my computer......I was told too many "fixes" to mention here, but essentially neither Nonstop backup nor the disk (partition) backup works. The error reports I get always take me to the Acronis KB and that ALWAYS shows that no additional information is available for this error! Tech support is very pleasant, but doesn't really seem to know what's going on either. They have told me the Acronis System Report I sent is not correct or corrupt, but didn't tell me if that means anything. Now they are asking me to repeat things that they initially told me to do, like disabling the anti-virus program that had absolutely no effect on the Acronis programs at all. I would like this new version to work, but I don't want to have to start paying for support after the initial 30 free day support period ends if the new version has issues that can't be resolved. Anyone has any insights? I appreciate any help!
Ron

Add me to the list. I get this same error.
True image 2011
Build 5519
Vista
Is it possible that having an empty folder in the files and folders backup definition would cause this error?

Comment:
I run ATIH 2010 and paid $10 for support on an issue I was having. I was told that if the issue is not fixed, then you can get additional free support on your original issue by referring to the existing case#. Of course, if support tells you that it will not be fixed until a later build, that doesn't help solve your problem now. If the problem is supposed to be fixed in a later build that becomes available, and you install that build, and the problem is still not fixed, I believe that you can still get free support by referring to the original case#. This is my understanding, but I could be in error.

I have the same issue. Deleting and rebuilding the task and deleting the associated backups works for a while then it fails again. I run a daily backup set to keep the last 5 files and do an incremental/full every other day. The issue occurs when it attempts to consolidate the backup images. I am running Home 2010 with the latest service pack. Log attached. The process failed on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 9th of April.
I can attach the info file you want but would rather not publish that info to the world. Can I send that info to an email address?
thanks,
Steve

Looks like this issue is becoming more popular. I'm seeing it as well. I'll try to delete the job and the backup files and try again. Seems like a pretty heavy handed fix to the problem and the fact that Acronis is not providing any useful information compounds this. I've had other issues in the past with similar responses from Acronis ... crickets. Thanks for the tips folks. If I'm successful I'll reply with an update.

I finally figured it out on my own. Acronis was no help. They asked to remote into my machine and I refused, which basically shut down the tech. He had no idea of what to do next so he told me to purchase 2011. I told him that was terrible customer service and he should be able to go off the error messages and logs I gave him. He agreed to check the logs but never heard from them again. Acronis support used to be really good, they even gave me a free version once because of a flaw in the product but now they can't fix anything.
Anyway, in 2010 go to Tools & Utilites --> Options --> local storage settings --> backup reserve copy. Make sure that path exists and you have proper rights to read and write to it. I deleted the path at one time and never changed the setting so that's why the backup would work and give the error message. My goal was to copy my image file to two places but it only allows for files & folders. Useless for me, hopefully I can copy entire image files in 2012.
Hope that helps!
Steve
