Failed to prepare operations error code 10

Thread needs solution

I bought 2 ADATA SSDs which came with a copy of ATIH2010HD

I cloned my pcs hd which ran windows 7 and everything worked well.

Then on my other computer which runs XP I got this error
Failed to prepare operations. Error code: 10 'File system error is found' with extended code: 458,776 'MFT bitmap corrupted'

I tried a few times but the error was always the same

I then uninstalled and installed an older version I had bought in 2008 ATIH11. I was able to perform the clone operation (without error anyway, did not attempt to boot to disk). BUT on this version didn't give me the option to use up the whole drive on the destination it just cloned exactly and made a new partition of the same size as the source HD. I wanted to clone to the new SSD but also use up the entire drive.

I'd prefer to use this newer oem version so I can clone to the new ssd and use up all the space. Any ideas?

Sounds like a file system problem -- most are fixable is the hard disk isn't physical going south.

I'd run the chkdsk /r on the disk, which will run all five disk and file system checks and repair. This will require a reboot for the tests to run, then after it boots up after the tests, try ATI again.

To run chkdsk /r on say the C drive open a command prompt and enter chkdsk c: /r--windows will ask if you want to run this test the next time you start-- say yes and restart. Go have a cup of coffee while it runs, it takes a while as it scans the entire disk.

If it was really an hd problem, why would I be able to complete the clone task using an older version of the atih?

I want to proceed and clone my drive using the new ssd entirely and because chkdisk takes a while so I ran it before I left the office last night. This morning I booted up normally.

Now I am unable to reinstall ATIH2010HD (have rebooted a couple of times, since uninstalling the older version)
The installation was interrupted before ATI could be installed. You need to restart the installer or try again. I've done this several times as well as rebooted.
