"Failed to Process Pair Script" Error

Thread needs solution

I have a Seagate Black Armor WS 110 (with resident Acronis software) connected to a Win 7/64 pro machine via E-Sata which I've used for about 6 months.

The backup software has never been entirely reliable or stable, and now every time Acronis does a schedule incremental backup, I get the error message "Operation has completed with errors," with error code 108 (0x1006c) followed by:

Failed to process pair script
No such script "29074DF-7DED-44A5-A41B-791C0E1FEC3B"

If I delete the scheduled backup task and start a new one, I'll still get the same message, but with a different script code.

I contacted Seagate, and they really had no idea what the problem might be.

Since I have over 100gb of valuable business and personal data at stake, I'm concerned that I might not be getting a reliable backup.

Any thoughts folks?

Thanks,

Todd

Hello Todd,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

- Download and extract the following archive;

- Run the script_fix.vbs file.

This will remove all traces of the scheduled tasks. Recreate a task and see if the issue remains.

Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.

Hi Oleg,

Thanks for your reply and attempt to help.

I tried this fix, but no success. When I run the VBS script, I get an error message:

"error 1722 (0x6BA) - the RPC server is unavailable"

I suspect that this script does not run properly on Win 7/64 bit. Any other thoughts.

I am to the point where I will probably dump Acronis' software for something more reliable, perhaps Norton Ghost, or even Windows backup. Given the errors I keep encountering, I don't trust the integrity of the images being made by Acronis.

For years I used a Maxtor One Touch with absolutely no software problems. It backed up every day like clockwork. I have had nothing but troubles from this Acronis system, which I have found to be finicky and temperamental. I don't understand why Acronis has had such trouble producing a simple and robust backup utility (evidenced by the large number of posts to the forum every day). Had I known the troubles this Black Armor system would give me, I would have looked elsewhere.

Thanks for your help,

Todd

Hello Todd,

Thank you for your response.

You are right, Acronis software distributed with Seagate Black Armor doesn't officially support Windows 7. This program is based on Acronis True Image Home 2009 which is incompatible with this operating system.

You may want to upgrade to Acronis True Image Home 2010. This version supports Windows 7.

I may recommend you to install a trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2010 available here in order to make sure that the program runs flawless for you.

If you would like to purchase the upgrade to Acronis True Image Home 2010, please visit the Acronis online store.

Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.

Hello all,

I would like to provide an update regarding the issue and Windows 7 support in Seagate Blackarmor products.

The latest build of Seagate BlackArmor Backup supports Windows 7. You can download it from the vendor's website and if you experience any issues with that, please contact Seagate Support team.

The error message "Failed to Process Pair Script" is most likely caused by the original task script being removed from the Acronis Scripts folder. Please check this KB article for more detailed information and solution.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.
