Failed to read data etc.

Thread needs solution

Hi I have seen a few references to this error.

I have Win 7 32 and have checked disc (c) twice - no errors reported

I have three errors when trying to back up:

Failed to read from sector '1.242,089,016' og hard disc '1'. Failed to read snapshot.
()x10C45A) CRC error ()x100155)

I have attached my Acronic report.

Instuctions for Windows log do not seem to apply to Win 7?

Hope you can help

Thanks

Did you run chkdsk with /r so that all five scan and repair options would be performed? If not, then try that. Also note whether HDisk 1 is the target or source. if the surce, then try copying the tib to another disk and try to restore. It could be a weak spot on the disk is triggering a fault in ati but is not bad enough to trigger a fault in chkdsk.

Hi, thanks for gettingback to me. I have run chkdsk with /r and have changed the destination directory. Still get errors. A smaller dmy docs backup works fine.

If I 'ignore' these messages, will my backup be OK? or will they be damaged?

The chkdsk report on errors can be found in the Windows EVENTS log under the Applications section.

Look at the results and if it reported finding or fixing errors then run the disk check again on Disk 1
CHKDSK X: /R (where x is the drive letter being checked)

The Windows Disk management console will show which how the disks are numbered. This is the view from XP but Win 7 will have a somewhat similar view.

Thanks, I have checked source and destination discs - not probs found.

Do you think these errors will affect the backup?

Thanks for the help

That is difficult to ascertain. Have you booted from the Acrnis CD and validated the backup?

Do a forum search for CRC
and read some of the postings. This may help to explain why you are getting these.

If there a network or NAS or external drive involved?
