Failing to Clone

Thread needs solution

I have am running Windows 10 pro 64 bit with Acronis 11 True Image Home. The computer OS is loaded onto a 500Gig Samsung Solid State hard drive.  The destination hard drive is a 500Gig Western Digital Spinning hard drive.

I have tried numerous times to clone the solid state drive using Acronis but keep getting the same error "Unable to write disks sector 2937872". The error occurs after the computer restarts and is in a black screen an no OS is loaded. I have tried to do the close in following manner.

1.) Western digital hard drive partitioned as NTFS. Acronis asks to delete the partions

2.)Western digital hard drive not partitioned. Acronis then performs the partition.

3.) Western digital hard drive scrubbed using Acronis DOD method taking roughly 6 hours to scrub then telling Acronis to do the clonse and partition the hard drive.

The 3 different methods listed above yeild the same error. Can someone tell me why I cannot clone the hard drive? is the Western digital hard drive bad (roughly 7 years old)?

Thank you Trevor

Trevor, welcome to thee user forums.

Please understand that ATIH 11.0 is not supported for use with Windows 10 - only ATIH 2015 or later are supported with Windows 10.

The disk sector error would suggest that your target drive has got a bad sector that needs to be addressed.

Cloning should only be performed when booting from the Acronis bootable Rescue Media and should not be started from within Windows.

If your WD drive is around 7 years old then it may be time to consider buying a new drive.
