File Naming Problem

Thread needs solution

I used TI2011 beta and never had any real issues with the software operation. Since I purchased the software, the arcane setup of the program to create images requires due diligence in checking every conceivable setting. One problem I can't seem to overcome is the names the program gives images if you setup the program to split images in DVD size increments. In the past, the files would be (for instance) MyBackup 1.tib, MyBackup2.tib, etc. Now, with 2011, if I set the program to overwrite the previous image, the first image will be a name like MyBackup.tib_22DA7B20-69DB-40DA-9E54-0D59D98C6C141.tib_B9D81F89-FA1B-4835-97BD-0CF3684847DA1.tib, then the next images will carry on with MyBackup2.tib, etc. If I create images in an empty directory, the program will assign the extra numbers to each of the files. The first file always has a longer number attached to it. I've attempted deleting and recreate the backup job only to get the same result. I want the program to name the files 1, 2, 3, etc without all the extra numbers. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yep, the file naming in TI2011 is iffy. I have had this kind of issues after editing a task "too much" (whatever the treshold is :-).
I solved this by:
- copying with Windows explorer any existing Tib file to a directory different from the backup directory,
- deleting the backup from TI interface (if you delete the files from Windows explorer, that will further confuse TI)
- deleting any related leftover script file in the C:\programdata\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts. Check each script by right clicking on the file and choose edit.

If this doesn't work, you can try to repair your installation.

If this doesn't work, try to use the zap utility. This will delete all your tasks. http://kb.acronis.com/content/1859

Final resort, is to uninstall ATI, use the clean up utility and to reinstall.
