Followed instructions but can’t see the Secure Zone in Windows Explorer

Thread needs solution

I booted ATIH2010 into RAM from a CD created with the downloadable .ISO file so as to be able to make a pristine initial C: image of my brand new computer. (I am not ready to install the full ATIH2010 program yet).

It created an image of C: on Disk 2 just like I asked (I have two separate internal HDD’s) and then I created a Secure Zone on Disk 2 just to check out this facility. Now I wonder if the Secure Zone might only be designed to be created on C: so that you can store, and backup from, an image on the main operating system disk. However, surely I should still be able to see this Secure Partition on the second disk, under “Others” as described in the download guide? I am using Win7-32 Ultimate.

It says in the downloaded guide:

"When you create an Acronis Secure Zone, an icon appears under My Computer in the Other section. Double clicking the icon opens the zone and you can view all the backup archives it contains."

My computer (Win7-32 Ulitmate) does not have "My Computer" in Windows Explorer. It has instead "Computer."

Does AcronisTIH 2010 only view the Safe Zone with WinXP?

Also, the 150GB I allocated to the Safe Zone has dissapeared. When I right click the drive and select properties the drive show up as empty but with 150GB less space!

Can anyone explain this. Also, since I am thinking of deleting the Safe Zone does anyone have any advice on deletion aspects?

Any help will be most appreciated.

Typo: Where is says Safe Zone in the OP please read Secure Zone.

I never use the SZ but one of the things that makes it slightly secure is that it does not show up in Windows Explorer only in the TI application which supposedly keeps people from accidently deleting the files. Any management of the SZ has to be done within TI unless you want to go into a partition management program and change the partition type and fool with it from there - I wouldn't.

I believe this instructions refer to operations within True Image, not Windows Explorer - mount, recover, validate, etc. are part of True Image, not Windows Explorer. Here is the entire paragraph from page 22 of the User's Guide:

When you create Acronis Secure Zone, an icon appears under My Computer in the Other section. Double-clicking on the Acronis Secure Zone icon opens the zone and you can view all the backup archives it contains. You can also open the zone by right-clicking on its icon and choosing Open in the shortcut menu. Double-clicking on an archive opens it and shows all backups (full, incremental, differential) belonging to the archive. Right-clicking on a specific backup opens the shortcut menu allowing to choose a desired operation – mount (for image archives), recover, validate, update, remove the backup, and view the backup's details. If Acronis Secure Zone is password-protected, any operation except viewing backup details will require entering the password. Double-clicking on a backup will start the default operation (Mount for image backups and Recovery for data backups).
The shortcut menu that appears after right-clicking on the Acronis Secure Zone icon has two more items – Create Shortcut (for placing it on the Desktop) and Explore for exploring the zone contents. Choosing Explore opens Windows Explorer with Acronis Secure Zone selected on the directory tree enabling you to explore the zone contents.

Window Explorer is a file-oriented utility rather than a partition-oriented utility. It is utterly useless in seeing the layout and nature of partitions on a disk. For this type of information, use Disk Management or one of many partition manager programs available.

Hello all,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

In Acronis Bootable Media of build #7046 Acronis Secure Zone is unavailable for backup. You can get the access to Acronis Secure Zone if you go to Data Recovery and backup management window (use Browse for backup or Refresh backups button).

In other words, you are able to backup and restore to/from Acronis Secure Zone from within Windows.

Using Acronis Bootable Media you can only restore archives from Acronis Secure Zone, backup to Acronis Secure Zone is impossible.

We will improve the appropriate documents as soon as possible.

If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.

Burning tib files from asz

Hello,

Is it possible to burn an image from the Acronis Secure Zone (asz) to DVD? I understand that in TI 2010 you can burn directly to DVD. I also know how to backup first to the C drive, and then burn the tib files from C to DVDs.

What I want is FIRST to backup to asz (splitting the image to fit DVD), and THEN burn the resulting image onto DVDs. In other words, I want the SAME image on asz (for immediate recovery) and on DVD (offsite storage), and keep asz and my DVDs synchronized, if possible without having to move tib files out of asz first (and then back to asz after burning from C).

I am running TI 2010 on Windows XP SP2.

Help will be appreciated.
