Forcing a split backup across multiple drives

Thread needs solution

Here is my scenario:

I backed up all of my existing data from 3 drives to one 4TB drive. The drive is 90% full.

I would like to take this drive, lock it up, and do incremental backups only to a new 4TB drive.

Is there any way to force Acronis to continue the incremental backups to the new drive?

As I have followed the forum for the past several years, what you want to do is has not been possible.

When the backup task is first created, it records the disk ID of both the sources and targets and balks or will not run successfully when the original target disk is not present when a backup is to be performed.

I would just keep this disk for safekeeping of backups and start a new backup strategy--maybe one storage disk per disk to be backed up so you would have room for both the original and its incrementals on the same disk.

I'm somwhat confused...so if you say (very old school) were to backup a disk to multiple DVDs, the first DVD would always need to be present to continue the backup?

What's the point of offering incremental backup across multiple disks if the first disk needs to be present for it to work?

Incidentally, the reason not to have one disk for every drive being backed up is that it's very inefficient: drives generally aren't full.

Why not post your "enhancement" suggestion into the "Wish list" posting above.
