Freezes on boot-up with recovery disk

Thread needs solution

I have a Dell GX-240 that has dual hard drives and the main 160gb drive is partitioned. When Install the CD to make an image it freezes at the screen where it is checking the drives and this may take awhile. Twice it ran overnight with the same error.

I read on one of the other discussions that there may be a different version of the boot disk a moderator would send me the link for.

thanks for any help.;

Has the rescue Cd ever worked on your system?

A couple of things you can try.

1. download from your Acronis account the SAFE media versionof the rescue environment, install it and burn to a new CD. Boot choosing SAFE at the menu and see if this works.

2. Download the ISO version from your account - ditto as above.

3. Check in the BIOS and see if you have a legacy option or if your drives are Sata types, see if you can change them from AHCI to IDE - this might help th eLinux drivers on the rescue CD access the drives.

Do you know if the Dell drives are set up as cable select or master/slave?

If the above fail, then as you mentioned in your post above, Acronis might have another ISO that works with Dell systems.
