Frequent "The certification server is unavailable. Try again later"
I keep getting the message "The certification server is unavailable. Try again later" down at the bottom of the screen when starting to use an Acronis operation - and the log entries reveal that I'm only NOT getting that message about 10% of the times I access the program for one of it's functions. The operations themselves seem to be functioning normally, but I am concerned that failure to connect as it apparently should, may cause issue at some point unexpectedly, and perhaps catastrophically?
Should I be concerned - WHY am I getting that message so often, and is there a way to make it stop?

I think the reason your thread lacked any replies, is because we're all stumped for an answer :(
1. Have you been able to successfully activate your copy of True Image?
2. Have you logged out of Sync - top right hand corner of the GUI ?
3. It might be that Acronis are having a server problem local to you. Which part of the world are you living in?

1. Yes, I have successfully installed and activated the program - TWICE!
2. How do I "log out" of a part of the progran I've never looged into, or registered for to start with? See screen shot of the Syncronization part of the program, and then tell me WHERE in that "upper right corner" I'm supposed to click on to "sign out"...
3. And part of my question, as already pointed out clearly in my second post up above referring to other related threads on this furum:
"MOST seemed to revolve around the suspicion the notice I am seeing is related to the online backup and storage feature, where an online Acronis server access IS needed - but I am NOT signed up for that, and never plan to - and IF that is the source and reason for the error message, WHY does my associated log indicate that I *am* able to connect to that mysterious server SOMETIMES, even though I'm not signed up or registered for that feature?"
I live in eastern Oregon, use DSL, new PC running 64 bit Win 7, and IF the "server" message DOES relate to the syncronization feature, and as I've stated *I* have NOT signed up or registered for it, why does the program even TRY to gain acces to that "server" - and WHY does it *occasionally* succeed? And again, ALL OTHER features of the program I've tried are working perfectly - so apparently the failure to "connect with the server" isn't affecting my present use of the program - my main concern is WHY I get the message - and WHETHER it WILL at some point cause problems with my use of the program?
SO, check out my program screen shot - and tell me WHERE that mysterious "upper right hand corner log out" box is?

As you had not previously provided a screenshot, people attempting to help you with your problem were working blind.
I had a problem parsing your double negative in your first post ("and the log entries reveal that I'm only NOT getting that message about 10% of the times I access the program for one of it's functions.") , so a copy or screenshot of the log would be useful.
If you disable the Sync Service in services.msc does the problem stop? If it doesn't then it could be the activation server that is causing your message, does your install occasionally think it is not activated? TI 'phones home' on startup to check its activation status.
Have you had any previous version of True Image or ABR on your system?

OK, so now, you DO have a screen shot - so WHERE is that logout box/button you referred to earlier? That same upper screen data is on ALL the individual program feature top screen areas - should I be looking somewhere else?
What is "services.msc", how do I access it to disable sync service - I did a search on that topic in the program's "help" area, and came up with zero info...
I had an OEM version of the program with limited features, primarily provided for HD cloning - but that was deleted before installation of the 2013 full version. NO, I have never received any non-activated messages - as stated before, ALL programs tried so far are working perfectly!
Sorry if I sound too aggressive it's just frustration at difficulty in getting direct and complete responses to the direct and complete info I have already provided - my question STILL is,
What is the "The certification server is unavailable. Try again later" message about,
and,
How do I make it go away.
And finally, thanks for taking time to help - it IS appreciated!

This OEM version did you uninstall it before installing 2013 or just installed over the top?
As you have never logged into Sync or online backup, the log out hyperlink does not show on your system. If you had had a previous Acronis badged product installed at some time which had been logged in, the installation of 2013 might have carried that across so it would have auto showed log in which could have caused problems if there had been an installation error.
To get to Services in Windows, press the Windows button + r and then type in services.msc and press enter.
As I said in my first post, I am unsure what your message is referring to, which is why i am trying to whittle down possibilities. I have seen that message for vmProtect also for ABR series, neither of which seems to pertain to you.
I ask if your OEM version was uninstalled as they have embedded serial numbers and sometimes work slightly differently to Acronis badged products.
Have you tried using the Acronis Chat facility assuming you are within your 30 days of purchase support time?
Have you ever had a trial version of 2013 installed?
If you log into your Acronis account and select Online backup from the left hand menu column does it do anything.
What is the KB error code you see in the log or error message?
With vmProtect and ABR this message can mean you are not in a country supported by OLB, again that appears not to be relevent in your case.
OK, check that port 55556 in your firewall is unblocked and that your firewall is not refusing True Image access.
Hostname: US: obstorage.acronis.com
Port: 55556
I think unless you actually disable the service it still tries to 'ping' the Acronis server so that should you want to use OLB it is a simple case of just making a task. Disabling it will stop it trying to access the server.

"This OEM version did you uninstall it before installing 2013 or just installed over the top?"
AS I have already stated earlier:
"I had an OEM version of the program with limited features, primarily provided for HD cloning - but that was deleted before installation of the 2013 full version."
For clarification, the "OEM program" was one bought and supplied by Kahlon Co., at the same time I bought from them a larger capacity HD for my laptop PC - and YES, it WAS "deleted" - uninstalled prior to installation of the full 2013 version upgrade purchased due to a cloning issue I thought might be caused by the OEM program, but was instead a hardware issue with the new HD and the USB enclosure it came with.
Provided below, are screenshots of both the related error log of attempts made by the 2013 program to "access the certification server" - and as you will see, it DOES succeed in connecting SOMETIMES, but pretty rarely. Also provided, is the "services.msc" you suggested- I have NO idea why there ar *3* different Acronis functions listed, I have NEVER, in the OEM OR 2013 version activated or registered for use of any of those Acronis linkups or services, unless the act of engaging a search for regular program updates at Acronis startup, and scheduling regular partitions backups, as I have done, somehow creates those entries?
IN any event, I have turned OFF the automatic daily search for updates, and so far, last several times I've loaded 2013, no more failures to connect messages - sorta makes me think it IS indeed just what it says, a failed attempt to log into the Acronis certification server, probably due to the attempt of the program to connect for any possible program updates - in other words, a pretty regular failure at the Acronis end, on their "certification server" - sorta strange why there's a problem connecting THERE, yet I can easily log into the regular site as I have done here today - and ALL my other Internet connections are working just fine.
Again, thanks for the help!

OK - first, I'm a bit puzzled as to why this thread is no longer showing up in the main forum area? Other threads, both older and newer are displayed, but THIS thread seems obviously absent, and the only way I can find this thread is by searching on my own user name - any particular reason, or is this only on MY 2 PC's?
SECOND - seems I have pretty well rooted out the problem with the "server" message - it is totally caused by the login at the upper right of the screen - if I click on that and logout, no more server issue, no message!
Not sure why I would want to login at every use of the Acronis program anyway - and also curious as to why there's an issue with THAT login, but one in any other instance of logging into the Acronis site.
SO, the "fix", is to simply NOT login at the top of the page...

Acronis has moved this thread into the Online Backup forum.

That may have seemed appropriate at the time, but as it turns out, the problem has NOTHING to do with the online backup feature, but rather the program login feature that then (in my case!) is frequently unable to connect with the Acronis certification server - tho' for the life of me, I can't figure why a user would particularly want to be logging in every time the program is accessed anyway...
I logged off, and the problem went away!
I wonder what the problem is with the Acronis server that caused so many no-connects any way...?
