HELP - backup / clone not working

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis True Image 2009

Goal - for my company, we have the exact same computer used for every system. We buy computers 5-10 at a time and need to load our software and configure each exactly the same.

1) I tried backup and restore. A single backup made mybackup1, mybackup2, 3, 4 -- all the same size.
2) When I tried to restore on the first computer, I was confronted with an error on reboot that said "Windows failed to start" -- putting in the Windows 7 disc that I have, allowed the repair your computer to work. This computer worked great. So I tried it on the next
3) Same error message, but now the Windows disc (same disc) says that it's not the correct version. The only options provided are then to format and reinstall all drives. So -- I went back to the first computer that works --
4) I used the clone command to a USB 1 terabyte external drive -- clone was successful
5) I tried to boot from this USB external drive and it didn't work - I get past the error message for Windows Boot Manager and it stops at "starting Windows"

Now I am stuck!

Backup/Restore didn't work.
Clone didn't work.

These computers don't have internal cd players. I do have an external DVD Player / Burner and was considering moving my clone to that drive to see if it will work.

Suggestions Please????

Project is due tomorrow AM.

And I am stuck on this text screen for Windows Boot Manager

When you created the backup did you select the entire drive?

When you restored to the new computer did you select to restore the entire drive?
Did you also select to restore the Disk Signature?

You can't boot and run Windows 7 from a USB drive so the fact that it won't boot is normal. You could try cloning the USB drive to the new computer. This may or may not work, depending on the system.

TI 2009 does not support Windows 7 so that may be part of the problem (can't properly fix booting up after the restore).

Note that doing what you're doing requires a TI license for each computer if you want to be legal about it.
