Hi everyone:) - I need help badly re moving data from a failing SSD. I have Acronis 2014 .

Thread needs solution

Hi there:)

My technical knowledge is limited. I know that in this forum there are many people here with a good technical knowledge. Your help would be appreciated...

My Computer is a Dell Dimension XPS 8500 with Windows 8.1. I have Acronis True Image 2014.  I enclose a screenshot of the current partitions.

1.) My C:\ Drive SSD which contains my O/S is failing.  I would like to know if it is possible to transfer the operating system and everything else from the C:\ Drive to my internal non ssd large Z:\ Drive on the same computer?

2.) If so how can I do this? preferably in disk mode.

For any replies I would be grateful.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Best wishes everyone.

Howard

Howard,

I would recommend making a full disk backup image of your 'failing' SSD OS drive as soon as possible - you can store this backup image on your second Z: disk drive.

Next, I would recommend buying a replacement 250GB (or larger) SSD drive that you can install in place of the failing drive, then restore the full disk backup image to.

Your screen image shows that both of your drives are formatted as GPT and therefore you are using UEFI to boot into Windows 8.1.

You need to create the ATIH 2014 bootable Rescue Media and ensure that you can boot this in UEFI mode (on CD or USB stick) and that when booted into the standalone Acronis application, that you can see both of your disk drives, i.e. the 250GB SSD and 3TB HDD drives.

See YouTube video: How to recover with Acronis True Image 2014 which will show you how the recovery process works.
