Home 2011 fails to back up - at all

Thread needs solution

Vista Ultimate 64 hasn't been able to back up since 1/17/2011. Last log entry varies from "Operation has completed with errors" (which created a backup too small to have been the entire disk), "The specified file does not exist." (which in the past has actually meant "the folder for the backup does not yet exist - and we're too dumb to know how to create it on the fly), "Locking partition C:" (as the last entry in the log for that particular backup.

I have both a RAID array that I am trying to back up my C: drive to as well as a D: drive that I've also tried to backup the C: drive to, all of which fail. My C: drive contains about 350 GB of files and data. In the past I've had periodic backup failures which seemed to resolve after a product update, but this time, product updates haven't helped. I recently recovered a crashed hard drive to a new drive from the 1/17/2011 differential backup (fortunately).

I just don't see anything causing these problems and any help would be appreciated. Any suggestions?

Update: last night, a scheduled backup "completed," apparently successfully though the target drive showed no available space this afternoon, leading me to wonder whether it was a successful backup or not.

After suspending the scheduled backup (that supposedly completed correctly last night) I created a new backup to test whether backups were repeatable or not. I attempted three manual backups, all of which failed, and each of which triggered a Windows message stating Acronis had a faulty module. I then cleared all of the event logs in an effort to get an error message, and ran another backup attempt. The following was in the "Application log:"

Faulting application TrueImageHomeService.exe, version 14.0.0.6696, time stamp 0x4d483440, faulting module TrueImageHomeService.exe, version 14.0.0.6696, time stamp 0x4d483440, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x005a5cb3, process id 0x1c70, application start time 0x01cbc98ee85fb651.

As a new program update was downloaded and installed earlier today, I had hoped that my problems would be resolved. But it is apparently not to be. I hope the enclosed information will be of help; what else can I do to help resolve this problem???
