How to create Full Backups and save them

Thread needs solution
On an older machine with Windows XP I used to have an older Acronis True Image version, that worked really good and was always reliable. On another PC that I have since 2015, that works with
Windows 7, I use Acronis True Image 2015. It always disturbed me, that I can not create Full-Backups, like I did on the old PC with that old Acronis True Image. I hardly used the Win 7-machine, so the problem was not a big deal for me until now. But now I am going to switch over completely from the XP-machine to the Win 7-machine. As much as I tried, I can not find a way to create full backups only, that I can keep until I decide to remove them. I usually had 3 aktive Backups. When I created the fourth one, I deletled the oldest one.
I can create full backups with "One Version", but the next backup would overwrite the previous one. This is not my intention - I want to keep it. Can I use "Backup Reserve Copies" and save the copies in another folder? Can I restore the system with these copies, even when they are older? Or is there another possibility to create only full backups and keep them as long as I want?

Rainer, please see the ATI 2015 User Guide section on Custom Schemes - which is the approach you need to use if you want to only make Full Backups and to keep a number of these files.

By Selecting 'Custom' for the Backup Scheme (in the top selection box), you can then select 'Full' in the lower Backup Method selection box.

You control how many full backups are kept by using the Automatic Cleanup settings to do this.

My preference for automatic cleanup is to use 'Store no more than X recent version chains' where X is the number of Full backups to keep, but which needs to be 1 less than the storage capacity of your backup drive.

To explain: ATI only deletes old backup chains after a new Full backup has been created, so your backup drive needs to be able to store X+1 full backup files.

Thank you for your comment. Can I decide myself, when I want to create the following Full-Backups or does ATI start them automaticly (what I don't want)?

Rainer, you can elect to only perform your backups manually or else you can set a regular schedule to run them.

The options for either of the above are controlled via the Scheduling page options - simply set to 'Do not schedule' for manual...etc
