How to create/obtain an Acronis recovery/boot CD if Acronis is not accessible

Thread needs solution

I have two computers, one (Computer A) with Acronis True Image 8 and the other (Computer B) with Acronis True Image 11.

Computer B was running Windows XP Pro and I tried to add Ubuntu Linux as a dual-boot system. Now neither system on Computer B will boot so I wish to restore the computer to its original Windows XP Pro state using an Acronis image of the full hard disk created yesterday before the attempt to install Ubuntu Linux.

I have discovered that there is no Acronis recovery CD for Computer B, only a recovery CD for Computer A which was created with its Acronis True Image 8. Clearly, I cannot create a recovery CD from my Acronis 11 since that system won't boot so as to allow me to run Acronis True Image.

I presume that the ATI Ver8 CD will not restore the ATI Ver11 image and don't want to experiment lest the image be corrupted.

How can I create a boot CD which will allow me to restore the ATI Ver11 image to Computer B ?

I've thrashed around in the Knowledge base with no success. There seem to be answers to everything except this simple question. Or maybe I'm using the wrong keywords for my searches.

If your program is registered you can douwnload it again form Acronis, install it on some machine long enough to create a bootCD.

Ah, thanks, Scott. The program is indeed registered but I had assumed that a boot CD created on another machine would not work on the corrupted machine and I was loth to experiment lest I cause further "damage".

Off to work !

Hello Patrick and Scott,

Let me comment this situation.

Actually, we have implemented the possibility to download the appropriate ISO file after logging into your account (the serial number should be registered). But this option is available for the current and (n-1) versions. Please log in to your account, go to the Registered products and downloads section -> Bootable media. Download the file.
To get access to the ISO you should first register Acronis software.

If you need some ISO file from us urgently, feel free to send a PM to me or any support moderator, we would be glad to help you.

Also note that you won't be able to recover image from 11'th with version 8, since archive made from Acronis True Image 11 Home can be recovered with the same or newer product version, but not with an older one.

Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Thank you.
