How to delete a backup?
I have a backup that is no longer valid. I made it before my video card was changed. The video card was defective. When the machine was repaired, I made a new back up. How do I delete the one that is no longer valid?

Hello kev914 and Fungus,
Acronis True Image Home (starting from version 2009) keeps a database of the created backup archives and their location on the machine. When you start Acronis True Image Home, it refers to this database to display the available backup archives. So, if you remove the archives manually through Windows Explorer, the database become corrupted.
You should do it the following way:
- Run Acronis True Image Home 2010 and click Recovery;
- Right-click on your backup archive and select Remove;
Now you have your backup removed and the information in the database of the product is up to date and correct.
Thank you.

Acronis® True Image Home® version 11.0 (build 8,101)
I read the posts on how to delete old backups:
Recovery> right click > delete
But I do not have a Recovery option in v 11.0 - how do I delete old backups! I am going around in circles - please give me detailed instructions.
Thank you

In TI 11 just use Windows Explorer as Fungus above, the reference to remove in Ilya's post as he says is for version 2009 and later

Thanks for the quick response!
I have used Explorer in the past BUT I'm concerned that I not delete files that are necessary and I want the Acronis database that keeps track of all backups be up to date. There must be a way to do that from within Acronis TI 11?? Is it just me or is the help lacking in user friendliness? Did you mean 'version 2009 and later' to be version 2009 and earlier versions? Isn't TI 11 a more up to date version than version 2009?

Acronis had a version numbering system I assume starting at 1 (before my time), this ended at version 11. TI 12 is version 2009 and version 13 is 2010. I assume they changed the numbering system because they think the new system is more "with it" So version 11 is older than 2009
In version 2009 and 2010 they linked the tib file with a "database" I assume this is one of the enhancements that they believe everyone needs, I and some other users of previous versions think it only adds more bloat and is less user friendly.

This section of your post was not 'on line' but was contained in the notification email I received from Acronis:
Within TI 11, you could delete tib files but not copy or move them. If you
deleted a tib file you could delete the corresponding log file from within
TI, there was no database similar to the one they use now...
This procedure, you mention, would be helpful to me at this point since I would like to keep room on my backup HD for newer backups. I guess I will just do it from Explorer and hope for the best - I have used the option to verify the backups (after deleting from Explorer) and it says everything is ok - So... Your talking to a great grandfather trying to stay hitched to the technology as best he can!
Thanks again!

To make sure your copied backups on the external drive are good download and install a MD5 Sum calculator such as the Express CheckSum Calculator from http://www.irnis.net/soft/xcsc/.
Calculate the MD5 Sum of the validated tib file on your internal disk write down the number and do the same with the copied file on your external drive before you delete the tib. If the numbers are the same, you are good to delete the one on the internal, if not then you need to delete the one on the external and recopy.

I removed my backup archive accidentally through Acronis True Image Home 2010 . How can I undo the operation?
Thank you
