How do i make a differential backup with TI home 2011
Hi guys
Can i ask for a little advice please.
I have ditched the version chain method of backup and i have made a full backup with the differential custom scheme.
I have read the users guide but i am unable to see how i add a differential backup to the full version, in an old version i had i just selected the backup i wanted to add to and that was ok, but now that does not seem to work
I am running Windows 7 64 bit pro edition and True Image Home 2011 with the plus pack build version 6696
Hope someone can help me please

Hi Pat
Thanks for the info that explaines a lot. I understand now how to set it up to make a differential backup
I have tried to attach a screen grab with a question. i have made a differential backup with the custom screen, then after the backup was done i added some data to the partition in question and then clicked on backup now, and it made a i think a differential backup to the main backup, but as you can see i also made a reserved copy to another drive but that has no differential adition to the main backup.
So is it possible to make a differential backup to the main backup and the reserved copy at the same time

Edward,
I didn't know the answer, so I looked around and found this:

reserved copies are always full backups, they don't follow the autocleaning rules.

Hi Pat so will it be ok for me just to make a backup to my external drive in the differential method and then just copy it to another drive with windows explorer.
Is the way i made the differential backup the correct way, just by clicking on backup now.
Am i right in thinking if i click on recover last version it will recove the full backup and the latest differential?
Thank for the link you sent i see you are right so ther is no point in making a reserved copy if you are unable to update it

Yes. This is what I do. I make my backups to a local disk, and sync them to a disk I take off site from time to time.
If the settings of your backup task look like my screenshot, then you have a differential backup set up. It will recover from the last full and the last differential.
In the 6597 build, there were issues if you deleted an intermediary differential. The backup wouldn't validate any longer. THis is not normal behavior, but a bug. I didn't try in the last build. I am using incrementals now.
