how to get rid of lingering T.I. unwanted processes

Thread needs solution

I used True Image a few months ago for minor disk maintenance
and now I have two processes that continue to load and run
every single day. I want to get rid of them without uninstalling
the True Image program. How do I do it without unchecking
them in MSCONFIG.exe and causing problems.
The unwanted processes that are continuing to use memory
and CPU are"
TrueImageMonitor.exe and
TImounterMonitor.exe

They may or may not be significant but I dont like to clutter
up my system with dozens of processes that ultimately
bog the system down.

I dont want to uninstall the True Image as although I have
the serial number to install I am not completely sure of the exact
text of my ID that I used when installing with the serial number.
That is the problem with downloaded versions of the program instead
of mailed CD's.

Those two process shouldn't be taking up any system resources if TI isn't running, though there is a placeholder in system resources for them should they start.

TImounterMonitor.exe - if you never want to mount any TI images then this service can be unticked.

TrueImageMonitor - this just gives you the fancy tray icon and right click options.

So long as you leave Scheduler2 and scheduler helper running, everything else in TI should still work.

I dont want ANY processes taking up any kind of place in my task manager as loaded
processes. Thanks for pointing out the scheduler and scheduler2 processes also.

I want them removed as well. Can I remove ALL processes when I am not running
True Image without removeing or de-installing the progrram ? How ?

I dont use if for backup. All I did was clone a hard drive once.

You can stop or disable all the visible services, but TI will not run at all, which would seem fine for your purpose.

Be aware though that as the TI drivers and registry entries are still on the system they may still interact with other programs.

Hi Scott,

You may want to think about un-installing True Image on your PC
AFTER you create a bootable disk.

Then in the future you can use the bootable disk to do operations you need.

The only exception is that you can not MOUNT an xxxx.tib image.

Just a thought here.

If I were to do this, and then enabled them when I wanted to manually make a back up would it affect the back up I make in any way?

Jason:

I haven't tried that, but don't see why the image made should be any different. Of course you'd only be able to restore via the Rescue CD, so before altering anything, making sure the Rescue CD can see all your drives, and recognises your tib files is most important.

Hello Scott,

I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to solve the issue.

"TrueImageMonitor.exe” - Acronis True Image Monitor. This program provides the interface between running Acronis True Image tasks and the user. It allows to observe the tasks progress and cancel the running tasks. It is started when a user logs into the system and terminates when the user logs off. This program is not required by Acronis True Image to perform its tasks,

and can be terminated if you think it occupies too much memory, but you will loose the ability to control running Acronis True Image tasks.

The special TimounterMonitor.exe process monitors the mounted images and constantly checks if there is enough space on the storage to save all the changes made to the sectors of the mounted image.

Schedhlp is executed as a separate process for any logon, works till logoff and notifies Scheduler service about logon and logoff events.

All Acronis resident modules uses very little amount of physical memory in normal state (when no imaging or other task is performed) since operating system swaps them off to the swap file on the hard disk. Disabling of these services with Acronis True Image installed may cause some issues with the correct working of the program and of the system.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.

A detailed list of what needs to be done to de-activate ATIH on the machine would be definitively appreciated, since for so many of us, uninstalling ATIH is just impossible...

Hello Stephane,

Thank very much for posting and I appreciate your suggestion.

I will forward it to our Program management team so that we can a set of instructions in case the clean up utility fails to help.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
