How many tib files do i need to keep
I'm new to acronis and apologise if this has been asked before but I could not find the topic.
I back up the PC to a NAS, the first file created is backup.tib, then wa week later backup(1).tib (about the same size as the backup.tib. Then weekly is adds smaller files called backup(1)2.tib and so on until it reaches backup(1).7 tib and then it starts over at backup(2).tib......backup(2)1.tib....etc.
Question: Do I only need to keep one set i.e. backup(4)1 to 7 .tib and do i need to keep the original backup.tib.
My fileslist:
Backup.tib\
Backup(1).tib\
Backup(1)2.tib\
Backup(1)3.tib\
Backup(1)4.tib\
Backup(1)5.tib\
Backup(1)6.tib\
Backup(1)7.tib\
Backup(2).tib\
Backup(2)1.tib\
Backup(2)2.tib\
Backup(2)3.tib\
Backup(2)4.tib\
Backup(2)5.tib\
Backup(2)6.tib\
Backup(3)1.tib\
Backup(3)2.tib\
Backup(3)3.tib\
Backup(3)4.tib\
Backup(3)5.tib\
Backup(3)6.tib\
Backup(3)7.tib\
I suspect I am keeping too much, sorry if this is a thick question but any advise is appreciated.

You have probably left the default scheme for your backup. You can click on edit backup settings, click on options and change your backup scheme to what you prefer.
For example, you can create an incremental backup, and request a new full every 6 incrementals. Then you can turn auto cleaning on and request that only the X most recent chains be kept.
That said, whenever you tweak your backup settings, it is better to start a new task.
FInally, if you have enough space, don't worry about keeping too many backups!

Yes, you can keep all files of backup set 4 and delete all prior sets. However, that may not be a wise choice as often times, a problem with a file or needing a file is not discovered until days or weeks or months later. Consider keeping the first full backup of some the other sets--or at least, perhaps the very first full backup. It is possible to set up a backup task to keep only the original and then x number of backups--depending upon your needs. If you do this, it should be done with a new task.
You need to be aware as to the type of backup for the 2-7 files. Are these incremental or differential type backups. Different retention rules apply. If 2-7 are incremental type and if restoring #7, then all 7 files are needed. Conversely, if 2-7 are differential type backups and if restoring #7, then only the full plus the single #7 are needed and will be restored.
Sets can be deleted or keep only the first full backup from any set.
