How to move a backup file/

Thread needs solution

I use a 32GB Solid State ExpressCard as a temporay storage place for backups. I want to move backups from there to a 500GB hard drive.

I clicked on ATI > Add backups > My backups. It said my last backup was completed and validated. It's size was 13.1GB, location G:\Mybackups. Then I clicked on Operations > More > Move; browsed to G:\Mybackups and found the backup file. However it said, "this file is currently in use." Is there something I can do to prevent this error message from happening?

I used Wndows Explorer to copy/delete the file. When I went back to Mybackups it said," can not open the backup file." I clicked on View log and it said, "the specified file does not exist." What is the best way to change where a .tib file is stored?

KCav,

When you use the move command, first it should work, second, not only it moves all the files linked to the task but changes as well the destination of future backups.

Rather than doing this, I would recommend to just set a new backup task, and move the files manually if you want to do that.

Otherwise, you can use Windows explorer to first copy the files manually, verify the copy worked out well, then delete the originals. ATI database will lose track of these files, but it won't impair your ability to restore IF:
- you carefully move chains entirely,
- you validate your copied files after the copy BEFORE deleting the original files OR you use file comparison software to ensure that the copy was 100% reliable.
