How to succesfully delete old full backups so Acronis TI can see they are gone?

Thread needs solution

Running W7 HP SP1 x64 all latest updates, Acronis True Image Full 6514.

Actually two questions:

1.) First has to do with title topic. I've got four full backups, and one I do not need anymore.
Present size on disk for all files is 60.66 GB, and that is as far as I care to go. I'd like to keep
only four full valid backups at all times, don't need anymore.

2.) Set incremental weekly @ default time: 9:00 AM. Works perfectly, but note possible issue:
Updating the old versions (cloning operation>consolidating files) takes about 15 minutes,
hovering the mouse over the TI icon in system tray will display 130%-186% progress as the
deleting and renaming processes of old/new files progresses. Either it is 100% or it is not?
Total time for entire operation is about 25-30 minutes. Size of incremental is 26.62 GB.

Familiar with Norton Ghost operation, so TI differs, hence the questions. Since latest NG version 15 is no longer supported, that is how I arrived here. Thanks for any replies.

I suggest that you create a new backup task, backing up to a new folder, with your desired options:
Read Grover's How to Backup from within Windows: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/28705

You can specify that ATI retain only the four most recent backups and automatically delete the oldest. Once you have that new task setup, you may delete the old task and its backups if you like.

Thank you for your answer.

So, unlike NG, can't manually remove a specific backup file within a set? Process above you recommend is similar to incremental I've already set up? What would happen if I were to remove the four full backups and keep the original (system first set up on May 1st of this year, first time)? Not an issue to schedule weekly full backups as you say, but have (would) I got myself into a hole I can't climb out of if I were to proceed with the action posted in the third question?

Yes, you may remove a backup from a set. But, you cannot do that if it is an incremental task, since subsequent incrementals would depend upon that earlier one.

You can do what I suggested and still retain your oldest backup if you wish. I suggest that you copy it to a separate folder, prior to deleting the backup task and its backups. You can keep all the backups if you want.
