I hope that the QA supervisor at Acronis is getting a stern talking to over TI-2012.
This may sound like I am expecting a lot, but when I pay for an upgrade of a software product, say from the 2011 version to the 2012 version, I expect the product to work as least as well as the older version. Not worse, if at all.
I am now looking for a new backup program for mission critical data. Any suggestions?

Specifically, at this moment, I can not clone a drive. Yes, I have read the posts concerning this issue. I have done what is recommended. I did the following:
1) I loaded the .msi file that was supposed to fix the driver that was responsible for the failure of TI2012 to be able to clone a drive. This destroyed the installation completely.
2) I removed TI 2012, Acronis PP and Acronis disk director. Downloaded and reinstalled the newest versions. This did not help.
3) Saw more posts that suggested running Acronis TI from the bootable media. Did this with no change.
4) Also saw posts claiming that having any sort of USB memory drive would prevent the software from doing a clone. Even though I have no such drive I disconnected anything that was running on USB. No results.
I am sorry, but my time is valuable. Unless Acronis can tell me how to really fix this problem I am going to have to find another vendor of software.
My system is Win7 64 bit, I7 950, with a new motherboard. Nothing strange about the system at all.

Tom,
I'm not sure which MSI file you are referring to, but, are you starting the clone from within Windows or from the recovery CD?
When you say 'clone' are you thinking of a clone - disk to disk copy with no intervening container file (a tib) or making and restoring an image of a drive?
If the drive you wish to clone contains the OS it is better to start from the recovery CD than in Windows, if it is an image you are trying to make this should be working from within Widnows.

The MSI file that I downloaded was SnapAPIsetup.msi. This was due to a post that I found recommending it for the problem that I was having.
What I am looking to do is have a disk to disk copy with no intervening container file. I was able to do this with 2011. This is the "clone" operation as named in the TI software.
I have tried to perform the "clone" operation from either Win7 or the recovery CD. The result was the same. Specifically, I don't get an error message. I start the clone process and get the window that shows the progress of the operation. After about 1 minute, and no progress shown on the progress bar, the software shuts down and reboots the computer. No files were put on the destination drive. the partitions are there but no data was put into the partitions.
