install 2015 failed " ..Some required files are used by another process"

Thread needs solution

I tried upgrading to the "new improved" 2015 version. I received the message "True Image 2015 for PC Installation Incomplete some required files are used by another process" I rebooted but still had same problem. Hope it is not too late to get my money back, If I am having problems with new improved easier to use Acronis with INSTALLATION than perhaps I better stick to 2014 version until licence ends then switch to an easier to use program. NOT VERY HAPPY WITH ACRONIS AT THIS TIME!!!

Did the message also mention which programs it needed to have closed?

!. Make sure TI 2014 wasn't making an image or attempting to Sync.

2. Programs that often cause installation problems are Internet Browsers, utilities such as Drag2Disk or InCD, scanning software, SD card readers, finger print sensors, some printer drivers (mainly those that have network programs running in the background).

Occasionally firewalls can cause the problem by disallowing the installer to unpack the underlying MSI file, but in your case I wouldn't think that is where the problem lies.

If the installer or Windows didn't pop up a list of programs causing problems there will be a log file in your user\temp folder that will list the offending programs.

Obviously these need to be stopped. It is also possible that if you did a warm reboot, that the offending programs had not been unloaded from RAM. See what happens if you try a cold boot.

Same identical problem here.

Warm Boot/Cold boot etc. Turn off anti-virus/firewall etc. nothing works.

Tried several times this morning and still getting the same error. I paid my $60.00 for three licenses and I am beginning to wonder if I wasted money here and need to get a refund. I have used every version from 2009 thru 2014 without problems. Where is Acronis support on this matter??

I got around this by uninstalling 2014, running a cleanup tool like CClean, rebooting and then installing 2015...Marty

Thanks Marty. I just got off a on-line chat with support. The solution is to click the "Ignore" button when getting the error message. I was reluctant to do that when getting an error but support said it was ok to click it. I did and the download & install proceeded normally and I have 2015 installed now.
