Install Acronis True Image 2010 on new PC

Thread needs solution

Hi everybody,

I'm going to install a new PC for a customer, and he has ATIH 2010 installed on his "old" PC.

How can i install it on new pc (finding .exe and licence key ?)

Thanks

If the client registered his product on the Acronis web site, he can download a new copy of the installer file and his license key from there.

Thanks for reply Mark. And if he doesn't ?

He would need to go to the Acronis web site and create an account, then register his product. Perhaps he saved a copy of the .exe file in his downloads folder? Also, if you have the old PC and start the program, look for the product key in the user interface. I don't have a copy of TI 2010, but in later versions you can display the license key by going to Help > About in the menus.

Okay, thanks guys !

I recommend downloading and storing the software for keep; instead of downloading, installing, deleting. Store the installer files locally. You can't trust the Internet to be available to you at every given hour and minute.

I keep a local repository of every piece of software I ever purchased, or the ones I commonly use for those that are freeware or even better: open source. That way, I have them readily available even when I don't have Internet access, and even if the company that made it goes out of business or decides (which is frequent practice and more common) to remove the files for an old version from their server, or decides to make other changes to their systems. One such change is an activation server change. Software like Acronis True Image often require activation, which requires Internet access to contact a server. This functionality can break when the designer experiences a change of mind (sees the light?), and deploys a different activation technique (often in an attempt to battle piracy) in later version of a given software title. This breaks the activation function of the older versions of the software that are no longer being updated. When asked about it, they will tell you to upgrade your software as the ultimate solution to your problem. So what appears as a "perpetual" software license, does not hold water... I have seen this happen at least a dozen times with a handful of proprietary software, Acronis software included. So if and when you can, grab your decryption key before this happens. That way, you can be assured that it will work indefinitely and activation won't be an issue.

In a nutshell:

  • Download your software for keep (installers, images, sources).
  • Grab your decryption key (where applicable).
  • Store your product keys, serial numbers and license keys separately and securely.
  • Start relying less on Internet connectivity.

I started using Acronis True Image from version 2011. So unfortunately I don't have the necessary files to install 2010 version.

What version of Windows is the new PC running? I would not recommend using anything less than True Image 2012 on a Windows 8 PC. I understand you are doing this for a client. But you can at least relay this information to him or her. Don't bore your client with that other stuff about keeping a local repository! :P The first two paragraphs were intended for the rest of us here.

The only TrueIMage Home product thst supports 8.1 is 2014 and 2015. Intial posting did not mention which version of Windows to be used.
