Install of ATIH2011 upgrade over ATIHv.11

Thread needs solution

Just got round to installing ATIH2011upgrade. Had my ATIH2011 and ATIHv.11 serial number ready. Was first prompted to modify, repair or remove. Chose remove. After removing a reboot was requested. Rebooted and then had to start the ATIH2011 upgrade install again. At the prompt for the serial number I entered the 71 character/number ATIH2011 upgrade serial number. Only part of this was allowed (stopped accepting after 29 characters). So I entered the 29 character ATIHv11 serial number. No further prompt for the 71 character ATIH2011 serial. Installation completed but the Help|About shows the version as ATIHv11 build 8.1.0.1, not the ATIH2011 build 6.8.5.7 I had used for the install.

Any help/suggestions will be most appreciated.

Hey there,

Uninstall ATI v11 from your system, reboot, install the ATI 2011 upgrade. The installer will ask you for your v11 license and your 2011 license. It looks like somehow the v11 installer was started instead of the ATI 2011 installer.

Hi Pat

Thanks for your response. I uninstalled ATI v11, rebooted and installed AI 2011. Only asked for the AITH licence once(and would not accept the 71 character number) - so ended up with ATI v11 again. So I uninstalled ATI v11, Disk Director Suite v10 and then removed all mentions of 'Acronis' from the registry (there were lots of these - is there a 'clean-up' registry removal tool available?), rebooted and tried again. Result was no change - only asked for a licence number once and only accepted the 29 character ATI v11 licence number. I used the most recent build of ATIH 2011 in both cases (6857 en EU).

Perhaps this will help.
It is upgrade instructions for 2011.

Just for confirmation, this is the file you should be installing and downloading only from your registration page--assuming that you have registered your new serial number with Acronis at your registration page.

ATIH2011_6857_en-US.exe

Yes there is a clean up tool available here:

This is really weird.

Does the application that ends up being installed look like 2011 or v11? Could the problem be that ATI 2011 reports itself as v11?

You are 100% positive you launch the installer of 2011?

If ATI v11 gets installed there has to be a v11 installer somewhere on your computer and it cannot be the one that is named ATIH2011_6857_en-US.exe.

Attached is a screenshot of the installer. Is it the one you see?

Hi Grover and Pat

Thanks for your responses. I downloaded the latest build (6857) from my registration page but mine is named ATIH2011_6857_en-EU.exe (rather than ...._en-US.exe) probably as I live in the UK

Looking at the upgrade instructions at http://kb.acronis.com/content/13423 I don't see step 5 and 6, I just see 1 screen asking for the Licence number which will accept only the 29 character ATI v11 licence number.

I am 110% positive that I launched the 2011 installer, the Installation Icon and start-up window window are as shown in the graphics included in Pat's last comment but ends up with a desktop icon labelled "Acronis True Image Home 11.0" and the old v11 icon image.

However, Pat, you are correct that there is a v11 installer on my computer as I have a portable USB drive attached at the time of the installation which contains all versions of my purchased downloaded software and from which I startup the 2011 installation routine. I have used this technique for several installations from several companies without problem until now.

I shall have a another try with the drive disconnected....

Also:
- uninstall the current ATI,
- clean your temporary folders using the disk clean up tools.
- reboot your computer a couple of times to make sure that no ATI installation is supposed on run on startup.
- move the installer on the disk you want to install and disconnect your current installation disk.
- then launch the installer.
