install plus pack then uninstall 2012 then GRRRRR

Thread needs solution

Hi
Thanks for the sending of the pp for 2012 but i wish u would have not.
I tried to install and get the version u r trying to install is the latest so i looked at the version and it was different to the 2012 ver. I down loaded from my account the new 2012 ver and got the same responce. so i thought i would uninstall and start from scratch. Would not totaly in install so i used your cleanup tool to the exactly what u had written an including the reg changes. i then ended up with a computor which would not start so i thought i would use the boot dick to restore. It would not detect the USB HDD that i had backed up to. At this point i rang my local computor company (who i use) and asked if they new y and the suggestion was the setup of the bios which i had correctly set up.
I finaly got my computer going again wit no help from anything at Acronis (i was able to use in a round about way windows 7 restore).
I then tried to install ATIH2012_6154_en-US again old version was 6105 or something build and got the the version u r trying to install is the latest again so i tried the cleanup tool again without the reg changes and computer start ok but when i try to reinstall ATIH2012_6154_en-US again i got the same old message the version u r trying to install is the latest.
I am starting to get VERY frustrated with all of the so can anyone please help me. 2 day is just stupid to try and install an addon.
take care

I'm not sure I udnerstand where you are getting the message you report. However, I'll offer this:

I recommend version 6131 instead of 6154 -- some folks have bsod probs with 6154, and imo, it's better not to mess with 6154 if you don't have a compelling need.

If you are seing this message in the startup pane of the installer, then not to worry. When you start up the ati installer, it checks on line for any newer versions. It then reports this is the latest version. No prob, at that point go ahead and install whatever buld you are trying to install. I reinstalled 6131 last weekend and it reported it was the latest version not that I cared that it ws the latest -- I was more intersted in it's being the most likely to work.

btw, good idea to use msconfig to help ensure against any conflicts interfering with an install/unintall. This will also prevent the ati services fron running while you are trying to uninstall or install.

Iirc, you need to uinstall pp then ati and install ati then pp. I recommend turning off the automatic check of updates in ati2012.

Thank Scott
I downloaded the 6131 ver of ati and pp and no probs at all. I also tested the boot disk and saw my usb hdd.
I think part of my problems was me, as forrest tells us "stupid is as stupid does" and in my case a very apt truism LOL.
thanz again for your help and take care

Now whatever elese you do, make a ful diskmode backup of your hdisk and set it aside somewhere safe. If you ever try to update to a newer build or upgrade to a newer version (ther's bound to be one), and anything goes wrong, you will be able to restore--a much cleaner way to get back to where you were than going through uninstall/install.

good luck

I see I am not alone.....Support....either fix it or refund.
All I can say is "ditto".
I have wasted enough days and hours trying to install my purchase....and the PlusPack....I cannot download.
My serials are to be found in my account.
GoBack was the very best software for these needs.....then Norton bought it and.....the quality and the work of the old "GoBack". ...has never been offered to the users... Check it out GoBack...before Norton.

It was easy to install...and so easy to use.... I hope there are others who remember the quality of the once...GoBack...which fell into the hands of difficult software vendors. Much of our Hard drives...and memory are filled with the protection of the vendors.... as we who are not pirates pay the costs. If you do not trust us...then why should we trust you.
If it is not broken....do not try to fix it. Do not sell it until you have resolved the ones who have made their feelings known.... If you programmed it...fix it. Or refund that which we have paid for software that is easy to install and use. (computers since the days of the old Commodore 64.....and many since then.... before some of you were born. Who do you think you are? Microsoft?)

It took three times to save it....and to be shown on the same page as saved.... That is why this is poste three times.

Unlike most reply forums....which preview and save when clicked. The page does not change nor does it show it has been posted until you go back to the site..... Not meant to hurt the people at Acronis....meant to advise those who might consider entering this problem unawares.

I am listed as a beginner..... the support should be listed as pre kindergarten. Any one who wants to know of my experience let me know.
I have owned more than 15 computers.....and purchased thousands of dollars for software..... I have the battle scars of questionable vendors and their "software". Microsoft has been the leader of vendors who do not care for their customers....(I feel you are aware of the continuing realeases of "not ready for primetime".) Installed networks....etc.... Beginner is for the un experienced. Even this title shows the lack of forum moderator respect for consumers...

The number of times for the same posts....amazes me.... (a forum user since Prodigy )

Sometimes, if the web traffic is high on the particular path between you and a site, the update takes a long time to show. Repeated saves don't speed this up.

Hi Guys
I thought i would throw this out there.
Very soon after my last post my mass storage Device stopped working again and gives me the error of "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". My ipod works but any mass storage eg wd external drive (and other brands), flash thumb drive don't.
I have done everything i have found on the net in last 4days and nothing works. I even gone as far as using unlock to put new reg entries in.
If anyone has some further thoughts it would be much appreciated, as I'm just about to wipe c drive and start again (:.
At my wits end lol.

Hello all,

Thank you for your comments. Scott, thanks a lot for your help.

Bagofrats, I'm sorry for you've faced this problem. This might be caused by a glitch of the snapapi low-level drivers that're responsible for the backup creation, but we have a fix for that. Could you please follow the instructions in this KB article, and let us know the results?

Douglas Bell, I understand you're upset with the situation. And we would like to help you with it. However there are not support requests opened to your account, so I assume you've used another e-mail address to contact our technical department. Could you please let us know the case number you've opened with support?

I have also forwarded your comments to the Development team. Rest assured it's been taken under consideration.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you.

Hi Guys
Bad and Good news.
Firstly thanks the the info Yana and the help Scott.
But I will probably never know if the glitch was Acronis or mine (most likely the later) because I had so badly tinkered with my computer (novices should not muck with reg entries and system files lol), that I had to do a reinstall of windows 7 and that was the bad news.
The very good news is that I reinstalled w7 to just the basic and the mass storage drive worked. So I the use the 21/02/2012 backup and it worked perfectly.
I then installed the v6154 Plus Pack (as my backup was that ver and i though i would give it a go) and no problems at all so i did not need to use the fix, hope I have not jinxed myself now.
First time I've had to use one of the backups I've made and its good to see Acronis have been money well spent.
so thanks all
hope this is it for me with this one lol
