Installation of Plus Pack Update to 6574 Fails
"The installation was interrupted before Plus Pack for Acronis True Image Home 2011 could be installed. You need to restart the installer to try again."
Have tried 6 times, restarted machine twice, same result, always fails.

Allen,
As I'm sure you understand, the term beginner just means new to posting in this forum.
As for the 2011 problem, is this a new install, an update or an upgrade from an older version?
There are normally two things that prevent an install.
1. Your Windows temporary folder need to be emptied - for XP this will be under C:\my documents and settings\user_logon\Local Settings\Temp, and for Vista and W7 it will be under c:\users\user_name\AppData\Local\Temp
2. There is a registry problem - posting the MSI log file here would be a pointer to the cause. Make sure your serial number and email address aren't contained within the log file - but don't delete the MSI text where the serial number or email address would be.

2011:6574 automatically makes one (earlier builds don't) and there should be an option when the install fails in the message box (W7 & Vista) allowing you to click and view it - from here you can save and store it.
The other way of finding it, is to delve back into the Windows Temp folder and looking for a file with the .log ending at around the time you started the install.

Colin in my absence before seeing your post above,
I have completed an uninstallation of Plus Pack 2011, via Windows 7 using Programs and Feature Applet in Control Panel.
Then rebooted and reinstalled the Plus Pack 2011 Upgrade, during the installation because i assume Plus Pack 2010 was
no longer installed I was asked for my 2011 serial number, then my 2010 serial number after that the installation progressed
as normal with no sign of problems

@Russell,
Brilliant.

I have the same problem as above. I am updating ATI 5525 to the latest version 6574 and I get near the finish of the install of the plus pack and it starts with error 1603 (OX1000) etc. I have rebooted, cleaned all temp files and found nothing about Acronis. I know about the msi files you refer to in Windows 7 because I have used it. I do not see any msi files in Windows XP Professional. The path you refer to in your reply to Mr Gabrielle above to find the temp file does not exist in Windows XP Professional, but I tried every path possible looking for the temp file and found nothing.

My apologies, the path is c:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp you need to enable show hidden files and folders.
If you click on the 'view log' button shown in your attachment that will get you the MSI log file. If clearing the temp folder doesn't work, then either follow Russell's method and if that doesn't work, post the log file here - make sure you remove the actual serial numbers and your email address from the file if they exist.

The fix is too remove the pluspack 2011 if you do that first and then everything works. The fixes in the knowledge base don't solve the issue so forget those.
If you can't see if as it's not listed under Acronis you'll find under p well down the list. Which is why I missed it last night when looking through the uninstall list.

I uninstalled ALL Acronis completely. cleaned all my temp files, ran disk cleanup and two registry cleaners, then rebooted and re-installed Acronis ATI 11, and after that I re-installed the Plus Pack and same results.
I just went through what Colin B wrote above and did everything he said. I am about to retry the installation again. For gosh sakes you would think that a company such as Acronis would have the capability to make an update something easier to do. Not everyone is as computer-literate as they. I'm 63 and gettin' too old for this sh*t!

Thank you Russell Groocock. I just checked my control panel to see if Acronis was there and it was. Then I looked in the "P" programs and found the Plus Pack was, indeed , still installed. I uninstalled it and immediately installed the update file and it worked perfectly. Thank you thank you.

That should read Jonathan Groocok and not Russell Groocock. Sorry for the mix-up. I have been reding too many posts :-)
