Installation support

Thread needs solution

I've been with Acronis since Tech Spt was in St Petersburg. I've bought every version. I just bought TI 2015 yesterday so that I could restore some saved Backups from 2014. I do not understand the Restore procedure at all. My invoice says it is Acronis Universal Restore; the file I downloaded loads "Universal Boot Media Builder" and in Knowledge base it is called "Universal Boot???" IN ADDITION, FOR 2 DAYS, I followed the contact support steps online and have gotten nowhere. CHAT: I keep getting an error stating Field
"Severity" is required, when it was in there by default and I re-entered it. Then ignoring that I hit NEXT and I get a "greyed-out" screen!!? Email takes 3 days and I don't have that time. So, I tried calling the main number to talk to anyone and that is a merry-go-round all by itself. I'M TRYING TO GET SET UP INITIALLY HERE! I'M NOT GOING TO PAY $20 JUST TO GET SET UP! THE PRODUCT SHOULD BE EASY ENOUGH TO AT LEAST GET STARTED!!
IS THERE A FREE PHONE SERVICE FOR INITIAL INSTALLATIONS?

Ed,
As you know, posting on the forum does not get you support on the forum from Acronis.

To get support from Acrons, note along the left margin.
You need to register your serial iinto your account and then contact acronis via the support option in top right corner and use the live chat option.
This option is valid for 30 days from date of purchase.

If you want help from forum volunteers, we have no information about what is is you are attempting to do.
If the restore is overtop your existing machine or to a new hard drive on the existing machine,
a basic restore is all that is needed without involving universal restore.

Only if restoring a complete operating sysem to a new and different computer is the Universal restore option needed.
Restoring only data files to a new computer does not involve Universal Restore.

What is it you are wanting to do?

Which version of "Windows are you attempting to restore and is the 2014 backup a full disk image or is it Partition images?
Is the Windows version involved a MBR type partitioning or is it GPT style partition>]

Without the info above, no one can provide help including Acronis.

If Univesal restore is involved, help links are below.
I am not involved in Universal Restore but perhaps other users can help you.

And what exactly is the problem you are having Ed?

The UR builder is separate to the inbuilt recovery media builder option, but apart form the fact the UR one allows you to include extra Windows drivers for the recovery procedure both do the same thing. The recovery environment hasn't changed from 2014 in look.
