Installed SSD with less than available disk space

Thread needs solution

I installed a neww SSD with 480 GB of space, but Acronis True Imaged created a copy of my system disk with only 250 GB of space.

How do I get access to the rest of the available diosk space?

I am running Windows 10.

NR, welcome to these user forums.

When you created the copy of your original system disk, it sounds like you did not take the option to Automatically Resize the partitions to fit with the larger size of the new 480GB SSD drive.

At this point you have several options:

  1. You could repeat the Clone or Backup & Restore operation to recopy the original drive to the new SSD and take the option to allow Acronis to resize the partitions to fit.
  2. You can open Windows 10 Computer Management / Disk Management, and use the options available there to Expand the size of the partition on your SSD into the unallocated / free space on the drive.
  3. If you have a copy of Acronis Disk Director you can use this to resize your partitions.
  4. You could download and use a free Partition Manager such as Easeus Partition Manager and use this to resize the partitions.
